OUTFIT//OPPOSITES ATTRACT

Looking at this, you might say "where are the opposites - other than black and bone"? WELP... read on!

What you're looking at is a Margiela knit over Mackage leather leggings, worn with OOOOLLDDD OG Isabel Marant tassel boots and a collarless Isabel moto jacket.

Let's talk about opposites - in this case, it was about softness with hard. The knit sweater is super soft in all senses of the word. Loose fitting, delicately made, it's thin and neutral etc.

Paired with leather leggings - that are psychologically "fierce" they're not easy to wear, they're tough, but the right kind of tough.

SHOP HIGH-END LEATHER LEGGINGS

LEATHER LEGGINGS UNDER $200 AND SOME UNDER $100

The boots although black are super bohemian with fringe and tassels. They're scrunchy NOT structured and still they have that fierce triangle heel and chain in the front.

Are you smelling what I'm selling? My thinking is there's an overall balance happening that goes beyond color.

OUTFIT// LESS SEXY MORE REXY PT 2

Some of us aren't comfortable showing a lot of skin and by some of us I mean me. I want to be, but whatever - we are who we are.

I tell myself "Self,  experiment why don't you?" but inevitably I find (not so) sneaky ways to un-sexy my "sexy".

Here's a perfect example:

What you're looking at are short shorts that look like a skirt and an oversized, boxy top.

The top came with a SUPER skin tight pencil skirt. I LOVED the print and got both pieces- BUT I got the top that was already designed to be oversized - 1 size larger. I knew if I did this, the fit would be baggy and balance out the sexiness. Check out the sick texture, color and pattern on this THANG!

SHOP PRINTED TOPS

One thing I like to think of when shopping is, how can I make it look like I wear skirts sometimes, even though I don't like to.  Enter SKORTS.  I know, gross. But you know what I mean!

SHOP PRINTED SHORTS

Ahhhh... the "sensible black ankle boot" it's a wardrobe staple. Unavoidable. But also a great way to anchor looks from being too showy. Imagine this outfit with a stiletto. Exactly. It would be hot, but NOT TODAY.

SUEDE ANKLE BOOTS

You might be asking - why so shy about showing skin, when you're wearing ridiculous, seizure inducing prints? A girl's gotta' have something.

Patterns in the same color family = winning.

GREY ON GREY AND A SECRET JACKET

Here's a weird outfit that can only be worn in climates like LA where the day starts at 50 degrees, goes up to 70 and then dips back down to 50. Confusing, and also the reason why the rest of the world makes fun of LA.... for outfits like this:

Happy enough, though.

I realized when getting dressed how ridiculous it is to wear shorts, a tee and then a big ass jacket. But then I thought "Go with it sister. Let's just play the ridiculousness up."

T-shirt is MANY sizes too large, which is part of the concept. Oversized for comfort. Suede shorts in May? Totally practical right? Riiigghhhttt.

Then the jacket: an oversized men's bomber style jacket... (with a secret...) keep reading.

The necklaces: a combination of a Zuni fetish necklace, a vintage turquoise find and an Isabel Marant pom necklace.

Picking up where the shorts left off, suede wedges baby.

BONUS: You know the GREY jacket? It's reversible! I love men's clothes that have this practical thinking behind it.

Say what?!?! Now it's black... now it's not!

That'sabowtit.

MOUNTAIN TOWN STYLE

Day 2 in the mountains and it's a whopping 6, yes, 6 degrees!

Ya'll know I'm a caribbean gyal. But Telluride, CO is one of my favorite places on earth. BIG TINGS A GWAN in this small mountain town! For now, a very basic outfit worn for window shopping.

No big deal. Just a lot of snow.

The most basic thing to wear, of course - jeans and a sweater. The trick to looking pulled up- basics with fun lines and asymmetry, like this OAK sweater.  Check out how the sweater has a "tail" and is cropped in the front!

A Christmas tree made of skis.

Adorable, no?

Personal Motto: Don't "save" your clothes or shoes for another occasion! Wear them while you can.

Decided to wear pony hair and suede boots... and basically NOT care if they get damaged by the snow. A girl's gotta' live. Plus, the more beat up these get, the better they'll look.

Socks inspired by the locale.

Tomorrow, a post about how to minimally pack for a mountain trip!

5 WORDS: GREEN. SUEDE. DROP CROTCH. PANTS

Comfort zone: slightly masculine pants, fresh sneakers or high heels, fierce coat, monochrome. DUNZO.

Favorite pants in the world, these photos do no justice...

Vanessa, are you really wearing those sneakers again? Yes, I am. I might wear them everyday. Also they're a metallic, which technically means they mix well with everything. I said technically.

Opportunity to show personality. Take it.
