OUTFIT// TOO BIG + TOO SMALL = WHY NOT?

Something weird happened recently. I bought a pair of short jean shorts. Where in the history of life have you seen me in short, shorts? Who is this person?

I'm the one who wears men's shorts. All the time... on purpose. Baggy, Drop-crotched, diaper bootied, over-sized shorts.

And then, this happened.

Shop The Shorts!

Really tho? Me being who I am, tried to hide under a vest which is, you guessed it: 2 sizes too large. This is what it looks like "un-zooshed"

It's supposed to be tied around the waist for a kimono effect, like so:

Shop The Vest!

Pretty fresh... but "too much tuna" (those that know, KNOW) But I've got a bright idea! I'm gonna' take that built in belt, tie it behind me to keep the jacket perma-open in an "effortlessly easy" folded look.

Here's the knot. You won't see from the back or side and from the front, it'll look good.

With the knot in place, the vest pretty much stays in this position all day.

The top underneath is an ATM knit piece. Lovely, no?

THE NEW BASICS

Happy New Year! I've been MIA, yes, because guess what? I have  a day job, a hectic one. The end of 2015 had me prepping for a 9 episode video series and shooting an editorial photo shoot. More on that later.

You know what happened the ENTIRE time I was shooting? I was wearing the same thing (versions of the same thing) every.single.day.every.day.no.lie.

Here's what it was!

TOPS

Long sleeve, super body con top. Luxe fabric, killer on. Way better than these pics. My choice ATM. Got it in oatmeal and black.

On an off day, I would switch out the long sleeve for this attractive halter style knit. Ultra luxe, also from ATM

PANTS

Wore these tops with bad ass jeans in two options: edgy and sexy. My pics, R13 for edgy and Frame denim for sexy.

REALLY AND TRULY - the gray Frame denim jeans with frayed edges (styled terribly above) are the hottest jeans I own. The hem is cut to make it look like your legs go on for days!

What can we say about R13, other than the pants above got me "cool points" with the various stylists on my productions. Dunzo.

Shoe Game

Listen man, when in production I wear sneakers. So it was the Nike Lunerlite DMB jump offs the whole time. On days with "meetings" I flew in the Gianvitto Rossi undeniable mule!

SHOP THE SHOES, BOO!

THE JACKETS

Toggled back and forth between an Isabel Marant collarless jacket and an old Gryphon camo bomber jacket. Here's the thing - I think collarless, epaulet-less leather jackets are fresher than their collared, epaulet-ed friends. Here's the jacket I wore in black and this SIIIIICCCCCK cream version. Sheesh!  Check out how I wore the Isabel jacket in a previous post- here!

Check out two looks I've worn with this camo bomber, before you decide it's too much print: Here and Here!

Sadly, the Isabel Marant jacket I wear is not avail and neither is this Gryphon bomber.  Here are some other great options.

OUTFIT// FLY INDIGO GOODNESS

OK, before you "go in" on my frizzy, wily hair and unruly bun - please know I went to the ocean, swam in it for 3 days, let it air dry and LETTING it live it's life. I'm in a place where I'm embracing the natural vibes - so be kind.  And now...

AN OUTFIT!

What you're looking at is an indigo top made by a Chinese designer, fully grommeted out with a tie at the bottom, worn with Zara waxed jeans and some SAXAY Gianvito Rossi heels.

The top: Indigo with a ton of design details, which can be too much sometimes, but in this case... perfection!

Check the shoulders, the grommets, the split lip hem... is that an actual term?

The string hangs LOOONNNGG - tied it up proper and tucked in the shirt to avoid boxiness.

The jeans: waxed denim from Zara. I want to give up skinny jeans, but these are too good to let go.

OUTFIT// NORMCORE REVISED

Remember when everyone was talking about "normcore"? Meaning it was trendy to wear non-trendy things and to take it to the extra normal extreme? I think the point was to look like you were a middle-aged white man living in Beaverton, Oregon. (Not racist)

That moment missed me for sure. Who's really gonna wear a fleece vest, cargo shorts and Skechers to make a statement? Anyhow. This is about as normcore as I'm ever gonna' get.

I call this look - everything is wrong, so it's gotta' be right!

What you see here are super baggy boyfriend jeans worn with a super tight basic long-sleeve top and BOOTLEG Nikes! Awwwwwwe shit.

Let's address the elephant in the room (or outfit) These kicks are straight outta' Shanghai China, obviously bootlegged, because this shoe has never existed in the history of Nike sneakers. They were gifted to me because apparently, only I have the "gall" to wear such things.

Check out the janky construction and stitching, but YES these are amazing!

Your eyes don't deceive you - those stars in the swoosh!

For the record (Nike, if you're listening) these were a gift. Don't judge me please. Also, they must be worn.

SHOP OUTLANDISH NIKES

These are not bootleg-but they are wild!

Now for the rest of the so wrong - it's gotta' be right look. An ill-fitting jean, anyone?

Already a "boyfriend" style, but slung super low on the hips, to make it look more "skater-y" is that a thing? These jeans are actually fantastic! By RTA Denim - with the right kind of distressed details.

And finally - pairing it with a super tight top (only to be worn on the days my tummy is behaving)

Is it wrinkled? Yes. Super wrong, right?

OUTFIT// WEIRD COMBOS FOR THE WIN

Sometimes it's the weird combinations that make an outfit work. As long as I'm following some basic logic and good taste fundamentals.

Full look:

What you're looking at is an Iro top with cut-outs over a white tank top, paired with 7 For All Mankind blue jeans, white Alexander Wang pony hair mules and an oversized Yankees bomber.

First the top - beautiful Iro cut-out blouse. It's actually dressy and absolutely lovely with trousers or silk shorts. Check out the deets!

SHOP CUT OUT TOPS

It most certainly looks gorgeous dressed up - but you know me! Jeans it is... the most "casual, torn up, common, everyday" jeans, it is!

SHOP DISTRESSED JEANS

The top actually has a very "bell" like shape to it. I had to hide this by doing a sloppy tuck and rolling up the sleeves.

Accessories: this is weird. When do I wear chunky rings? And why does this outfit call for it? The answer is - I'm going full out weird combos with the hope that overall it will make sense.

The jacket: super oversized sports bomber. Chosen for the colorway and stark departure from the rest of the look. Could have worn a blazer, a jean jacket, you name it and it would have been fine. Less interesting, maybe?
