OUTFIT//TRUE TOMBOY CHIC

This outfit (to me) is the perfect representation of tomboy chic. My explanation below!

The full look:

What you're looking at is a 3.1 Phillip Lim tee paired with silky Zero Maria Cornejo shorts and a silky Oak bomber.

When dressing up this way - I say to myself it's all about balance. Yes, this look is shorts+ baggy tee + sneakers + bomber... BUT check out the individual elements! All have soft feminine flair.

First the top: it ain't any ol' tee! This one was designed with tucks at both shoulders and at the right hip, to give it some pleating and folds.

Do you see how this design element makes for a softer look overall?

SHOP DRAPED TEES

Now the shorts - SAME DEAL! These shorts have a gorgeous movement to them because A) the fabric is silky and moves when I walk - and B) check out the folds at the outside hem!

You see how it gives for a water-like flow? (Wish I could insert the eyeball emoji right here)

SHOP DRAPED SHORTS

Good draped shorts are hard to come by - these are all pricey but worth the investment!

Before you go dissing my wedge kicks - please know, these are an original pair of Isabel Marant Bobbys... they are a staple, not a trend.

The bomber, from Oak, is made of silk and has super soft feel and look. Imagine this with a stiff jacket?

SNEAKER GUIDE// ALL BLACK OR ALL WHITE FOR MONOCHROME LOOKS

"Say what - another sneaker guide?" you ask. The answer: yes, don't you know me by now?

For those of us who love a monochromatic look and need/want (who are we kidding WANT) the classic kick to perfect the 'fit, here's a round up of sneakers that stand the test of time and are avail right now!

You'll notice I left out chucks, Stan Smiths and shell toes and strangely kept Isabel Marant wedge sneakers... explanation below! For now check the round up:

Why I didn't include:

1) Chucks: You don't need me to show you Converse do you? I don't think so.

2) Adidas Stan Smiths: Siiiiigggh. If you're going to wear that shape, I prefer the Common Projects sneakers (#1 above) UNLESS you want to try the Raf Simons colorful ones.  Click here!

3) Adidas Shell Toes: Again, you don't need me to show you those and personally they feel very dated to me. Sorry. Bad dated.

Why I did include:

Isabel Bobby Sneaker: for most, this sneaker was a trend. Seems to me that a well-designed wedge sneaker is a shoe staple. The Bobby of all the wedge sneakers was the slimmest, least trendy and best made wedge. They're not moon-booty like their cousin the Beckett and way more subtle than every other sneaker wedge that was ever made.

The end.
