FEDORA SHMEDORA//HAT GAME INSPO

Listen man, I don't want to sound like a hater. This IS however a PSA that it may be time to put the classic fedora down and try some new shapes. I get it, your fedora gives your look an instant "cool factor" boost, but really? Is she a crutch? OR is your ball cap your crutch?

Here's a gallery of chic hats to inspire you:

WHO CAN ID THIS HAT FOR ME? I'll be your friend fo' life.

Think fedoras are cool honey... look at this piece:

In beret land there are the usual suspects and then some fresh NEW takes on them:

TREND TO WATCH//MINI BAGS

Praise baby Jeebus (not a typo) finally a bag trend I can get behind. The truth is - I'm not a bag girl. Not even two percent. I'm the girl who carries a money clip and all her stuff in her pockets, like the original Yves Saint Laurent vision of a modern woman.

I can appreciate the beauty of a good bag, but baby, that's about it.

But NOW with the mini bag trend, PERHAPS there is hope to give my pockets a break.

Here's a look at some styles I'm scoping and before you ask, YES these are expensive, so please take it as the inspiration it is and if you can afford the investment, good for you boo!

Behold:

A big ol' YES goes to Simon Miller and this lovely mini baby bag. FRESH!

And now to 3.1 Phillip Lim with a belted mini. Too much like a fanny pack? Perfect I say!

She's cute on the body right? OH YEAH, OH YEAH!

Charlotte Olympia giving it a go... PS - this is just squeezing into the mini bag category as far as I'm concerned.

Jerome Dreyfuss with the boho vibes.

Please ignore this lack luster outfit... -_-

Mark Cross reminding us not to take things too seriously with this one:

Olympia Le Tan with a sense of humor. LOVE.

NEW EPISODE// EYE ON DESIGN WITH JUSTINA BLAKENEY

For those of you who don't know - I signed on with Popsugar to produce and direct a 9 episode design show We Spy Style, Eye On Design starring designer, blogger, author, Justina Blakeney.

Not familiar with her work? Click here.

It was an absolute pleasure working with my homies at Popsugar and super talented Justina!

In each episode, Justina breaks down a design trend and shows us how to incorporate that trend into our own homes with a great project.

This episode is great for both large and small exterior spaces!

THE PROJECT - CINDER BLOCK PLANTERS!

INTERIOR DESIGN//MY EVER CHANGING OFFICE

So much has been going on professionally (praise baby jeebus) that I STILL haven't settled into my studio space. I'm currently on the hunt for art - thinking I'll do a gallery wall (laaate to the trend, shawty!)

For now, take a look at some of the new additions to the space.

Although my desk is an actual dining table, I'm rockin' with a proper desk chair. Ergonomic, adult and all that.

At the end of my table/desk -- a chair I AM SO EXCITED about! Greyish/blueish, worn in the best way possible. It's tufted (which is unusual for me) but it's perfection.

Ya'll know every chair gets a textile in Vanessa's world. This one is vintage Navajo.

These cuties are from CB2 and come in a set of three. They're nesting tables with tops that screw off and on so you can play with heights and colors. (Not pictured is silver)

My boo came home with these hilarious trading cards. Laugh when I see them.

If you Googled 'Modern Planter' this baby comes up, because it's lasted through the ages as a chic, go anywhere indoor style.

I like cacti because they look like characters, creatures, even! They have so much personality. I look over at this guy and he makes me smile. Also, he is a "he"

SHOP MODERN PLANTERS

Thank goodness for flea markets because if it weren't for them, we wouldn't find random magazine holders from random decades (80's maybe) for $15 that fit perfectly under our tables to hold our whatevers. Made sense right?

When I said textiles for every chair... I meant it. They get shifted around depending on my mood and the current color scheme. This one is ANOTHER flea market find.
