MESSY MAXIMALIST//MORE IS MORE

In this brief video I discuss the "look" I've been exploring lately: Messy Maximalism. It gets a lot of stares, but overall - I'm digging the idea of having a visually noisy look that is somehow cohesive. Watch the video to dig deeper and check out the shopping recs below to duplicate the #lewk for yourself!

GETTING DRESSED WITH VB//BETTER BASICS VIDEO

People have asked on Instagram (and in life) how I choose my basics, because although they serve a utilitarian purpose, they AREN'T basic at all. In fact, my motto is never to buy something that "just works" EVER.

This video tackled the: TRENCH COAT, FIELD JACKET and BLACK BLAZER. If you haven't watched, here it is!

GETTING DRESSED WITH VB// A NEW SERIES

A couple interesting things have been happening lately:

#1 People have been asking if I'm a wardrobe stylist and although that's flattering, the answer is no.

#2 People have been asking for a closer look at my outfits. What the Instagram mirror selfie ain't enough? Kidding!

As long as there is time (yes, I have day job) and as long as you keep asking - I'd like to introduce a new video series called GETTING DRESSED! In each video I'll showcase a look, give a little strategy behind it and make some shopping recommendations for you to look into.

It's basically the answer to "V, what zeee hell are you thinking with that lewk?"

Still in development, but here's the first installment.

Basic strategy - mix both masculine (shopped in the men's section) and feminine pieces for a balance #lewk. What say you?

TREND TO WATCH//MINI BAGS

Praise baby Jeebus (not a typo) finally a bag trend I can get behind. The truth is - I'm not a bag girl. Not even two percent. I'm the girl who carries a money clip and all her stuff in her pockets, like the original Yves Saint Laurent vision of a modern woman.

I can appreciate the beauty of a good bag, but baby, that's about it.

But NOW with the mini bag trend, PERHAPS there is hope to give my pockets a break.

Here's a look at some styles I'm scoping and before you ask, YES these are expensive, so please take it as the inspiration it is and if you can afford the investment, good for you boo!

Behold:

A big ol' YES goes to Simon Miller and this lovely mini baby bag. FRESH!

And now to 3.1 Phillip Lim with a belted mini. Too much like a fanny pack? Perfect I say!

She's cute on the body right? OH YEAH, OH YEAH!

Charlotte Olympia giving it a go... PS - this is just squeezing into the mini bag category as far as I'm concerned.

Jerome Dreyfuss with the boho vibes.

Please ignore this lack luster outfit... -_-

Mark Cross reminding us not to take things too seriously with this one:

Olympia Le Tan with a sense of humor. LOVE.
